Gift a Piece of Art this Holiday Season
Taylor Surman
The holidays are a time of giving – giving gifts, giving your time, giving a smile. Whether you’re looking for a gift for under the tree or a gift for your child’s favorite teacher, consider the arts for this giving season.
A unique piece of art is priceless. Photography, painting, oil pastels – the options are endless. Luckily for us in the Lake Country, we have several different places to purchase one of kind art. The Artisans Village Art Gallery specializes in handmade jewelry, artwork, pottery, candles and much more.
The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art is another gem in The Lake Country. It’s not only a place to go and view art, you can purchase art pieces, books and other treasures at the museum as well. Another option is Andalusia, the childhood home of Flannery O’Conner. Besides from being a neat place to visit it is also an awesome place to shop for those art lovers and book lovers on your list.
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” Elf was right about that for sure! If seeing live music or theater is your speed, there are plenty of places for that too!
The Plaza Arts Center in the heart of Eatonton has performances scheduled nearly once a month in 2023. Whether it’s a tribute band or a comedian you want to see, The Plaza has something for everyone. Also, with a jam-packed schedule is Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) in Greensboro. OPAS has tickets on sale for some of their 2023 performances, and it’s bound to be a great entertainment season for them. Let’s be honest, we all know someone who has everything, so why not give them the gift of experiencing some live music in Lake Country’s historic theaters!
Throughout the year, Lake Country Arts Alliance participating organizations host events, throw community parties and bring unique items to their storefronts. From finding joy in viewing art to bringing a piece of art home for yourself, you can find something for everyone on your gifting list.
